Wine Trials Winners
The Wine Trials 2011Two of our wines got featured in the recent 2011 edition of The Wine Trials. — Naturally, we are ecstatic to announce that our $15 Eder Cosecha and Mania Verdejo/Viura "beat $50+ bottles in this year's rigorous brown-bag blind tasting"

What makes The Wine Trials specially remarkable, is that these <$15 bottles are tasted alongside wines costing sometimes 10 times as much. However, the 13 member tasting and editorial team had no idea what they were tasting during the blind (brown bag) tasting.

As noted in the book's review, "You won’t find esoteric words like 'elderflower' or 'pencil lead' in The Wine Trials 2011. The book is written in an unpretentious, conversational style that’s just as accessible to everyday wine drinkers as it is to wine experts. Each review includes the panel’s blind tasting notes, discusses each wine’s provenance and style, and even includes a cheeky discussion of the bottle and label design."

Wine of the Month at Taberna
Barón Ladrón de Guevara ReservaAfter a successful presence of our ValSotillo Crianza as the featured Wine of the Month in January, the Barón Ladrón de Guevara Reserva joins in the spotlight this April at Taberna del Alabarder. This Rioja, produced by Juan Valdelana, is one of 7 award winning brands that Tradewinds is excited to share with its local fans. We encourage you to visit Taberna this month, and enjoy this selection by Sommelier Gustavo Iniesta. — Taberna is conveniently located in downtown DC, at 18th and I Street, and close to the Farragut Metro.

The Personal Approach

Our bodegas are not just suppliers--they are part of an extended Tradewinds family.

We have visited each of these unique Spanish wineries to know the people and intimately understand their processes. And we keep in touch regularly to discuss product plans, inventory levels, news and buzz about their wine.
