He will be showing a series of photographs of Spain, and you will have the pleasure of also indulging in a Spanish-wine tasting and chocolate tasting . — The exhibit lasts throughout the month of October, but this special wine and chocolate-tasting reception will be held at Biagio from on Thursday October 8th, 6 – 8:30 pm.

Please join celebrated Spanish wine maker, Jose Cantos, as we welcome him to Washington DC, for an evening of Spanish-wine tasting. — The event takes place at L’Enfant café-bar on Thursday September 24th, 6 – 8pm ... one lucky guest will receive 2 VIP tickets to see the Nationals vs. Mets (Value: $600).

October is a special month for our Crianza’a from Toro and Ribera del Duero — The Munia Crianza from Toro scored 92 points, while Ribera’s ValSotillo Crianza was awarded 89 points and deemed a “Best Buy”.

Tradewinds is now pleased to be a Corporate Sponsor of the 10th annual BNP PARIBAS TASTE OF TENNIS — Dubbed the grand kick-off to the US Open, this star-studded charity event aids The Food Bank of New York City, and takes place at the W Hotel in NY on Thursday 27 August 7-10PM.

Considered one of the hottest summer events for foodies in NY, the Taste of Tennis allows guests the very rare opportunity to sample the food directly from over 20 of the most distinguished chefs in NY. All this while brushing shoulders with over a dozen renowned tennis players such as Andy Roddick, Vera Zvonareva and Billie Jean King.

Over the past two weekends, August 9 & 10 and August 16 & 17 , Downey Selections and Tradewinds co-hosted a very special wine class and dinner at Cheestique Cheese and Wine bar in Alexandria, Virginia. — This is another of the many successful events that the locally based companies have done to help extend the popularity of Spanish wines.

Over the weekend Tradewinds had the pleasure of co-sponsoring the official Player Party for the Legg Mason Tennis Classic, held at L2 in Georgetown. — It was a great opportunity to be part of one of DC’s most popular, and highly anticipated, annual sporting events.

The event particularly attracted many US tennis players, along with many local sports advocates including Mayor Adrian Fenty and former Miss DC Kate Michael.

For Tradewinds though, this was a fitting event to introduce 2 of the newest verdejo gems of the portfolio – Mania. The Mania 100% Verdejo, is a brilliantly refreshing wine from Rueda, with citrus undertones that are impeccably smooth and refreshing. The innovative butterfly shaped label is also a true testament to the creativity of its winemaker, Felix Cachazo.

Numerous wines from our portfolio received top scores in the 2009 edition of The Peñín Guide to Spanish Wine. —Grupo Peñín was founded by José Peñín, the most influential authority on grape and wine production in Spain.

Munia 2005 Crianza received a Gold medal at the 2009 staging of the prestigious MUNDUSvini International Wine Award. —This competition is held annually in Germany for wines from all the wine-growing regions in the world.

On June 4, Downey Selections and Tradewinds co-hosted another of their very unique wine dinners at Willow Restaurant in Arlington, Virginia. —This is yet another of the many successful collaborative efforts that the locally based companies are doing to help spread the growing popularity of Spanish wine.
