 Over the past two weekends, August 9 & 10 and August 16 & 17 , Downey Selections and Tradewinds co-hosted a very special wine class and dinner at Cheestique Cheese and Wine bar in Alexandria, Virginia. — This is another of the many successful events that the locally based companies have done to help extend the popularity of Spanish wines.
This “lovely evening of wine,” according to Alison Disher Smith and her gals, was a great sensation in the Del Rey neighborhood of Alexandria. Each night the Cheestique restaurant had a full dining room with a wonderful audience that enjoyed 8 of Tradewinds brands in addition to the 6 featured Spanish cheeses. In addition, the last night of the event saw the store break a personal record in special events selling 210 bottles of wine that night. What a great way to finish a four day wine dinner and class!
Over the four nights, the wines showed beautifully. Although, tempranillo is the most known grape in Spain, the guests had the chance to learn about different wine regions and some new and unknown grape varietals such as trepat for Rose cava making.
Overall it was another fantastic event hosted by “Alexandria’a retail business of the year”. The professional and fun staff at Cheestique was wonderful; moreover the Tradewinds/Downey crew cannot wait to do a similar class with a few new wines that will just brought on board.
