Bodega Sierra Norte

Located in Requena (30 minutes by car from Valencia), about approximately 600 meters above sea level, lies the cellar of Bodega Sierra Norte, which produces award-winning organic wine, under the brand name Fuenteseca. Born in 1995, the Bodega produces a modern line of wines ranging from red wines aged in oak barriques, to young red and rosé wines.

Traditionally, this area has produced wine for sale in large bulk quantities for retail business. Recently however, some wine growers have begun to produce and bottle limited volume, high quality wine of their own. Among these quality wines, Bodega Sierra Norte’s Cerro Bercial and Fuenteseca are, without a doubt, among the top quality wines in the region and for sure one of the only “Chateau”-type cellars.

Their wines predominantly feature the local variety, Bobal, as a main role in their wines, which is blended with Tempranillo. From inception, the cellar has always produced wines in small quantities. This year they have significantly increased the production but their objective continues to be quality versus quantity. The remarkable attention to detail in the production process, from the grape itself to the final product and eventually its presentation makes this Bodega stand in a class by itself.

Both the cellar and vineyards are organic-certified, and yet they are able to grow a number of varieties in their vineyard including: Tempranillo, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Bobal in reds; and Macabeo, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc in whites.
